Your photos, slides, scrapbooks, and documents will be Digitized into individual digital files and given to you on DVD format disks. You will also receive a digital copy of the book that you may share freely with others.

Color photos will be color corrected to account for fading/damage to look "like new." If you want to retain the "70's" look of faded color photographs, please let me know.

Black & white images will be saved in a color format to preserve the "antique" look of the original images. I will convert them to pure black and white if you prefer. I can also add septia or brown toning to photographs for the "antique" look.

To Prepare your photographs please place your photo's between plain paper (do not use newspaper) organized by the page you would like them to appear on, first page on top. You may interleave them all with plain paper, just be sure to mark the beginning of each new spread/page with page numbers on the blank paper. You may put captions or notes on sticky notes on the back of pictures or write on plain paper between the photos. Computer text files of any written text are preferred. You may even design your own layout- just label pictures/articles with stick notes on the back and draw a rough layout.

Copyright issues.
Generally images are the intellectual property of the photographer and you must have their permission or the owner of the copyright's permission to copy or reproduce them. Most family snapshots and photo's are not a problem. Photographs with studio names or marks, and/or copyright symbols need to have written permission from the copyright owner before we can copy/reproduce them.

U. S. copyright in any work published or copyrighted prior to January 1, 1923, has expired by operation of law, and the work has permanently fallen into the public domain in the United States.

For works first published before 1978, the complete absence of a copyright notice from a published copy generally indicates that the work is not protected by copyright.

For works first published before March 1, 1989, the copyright notice is mandatory, but omission could have been cured by registration before or within 5 years of publication and by adding the notice to copies published in the United States after discovery of the omission. Some works may contain a notice, others may not.

The absence of a notice in works published on or after March 1, 1989, does not necessarily indicate that the work is in the public domain.

Currently copyrighted works are protected for the life of the photographer plus 70 years.
